Local people regained the broadband internet by last evening as severed lines began to be reconnected from Friday afternoon following a COAB-ISPAB meeting on intermittent fiber cutting by a local cable operator.

Earlier at 3 pm, a consensus meeting was held between Cable Operators of Bangladesh (COAB) and Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) regarding cable cutting at the ISPAB office in Banani. ISPAB President Md. Imdadul Haque chaired the meeting on behalf of COAB, Vice President of the organization Syed Habib Ali, General Secretary Syed Mosharraf Ali Chanchal, Organizing Secretary Mahmudul Mamun and accused dish line businessman Arifur Rahman Tuhin sat in the meeting.

The ISPAB president requested everyone to present their views and suggestions regarding the allegations leveled against the defendant in the meeting. Meanwhile, ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuyan presented the details along with pictures and videos of cable cutting three times since 2022 till last October 10 on behalf of the victims. In the presentation, Apu, an employee of Arifur Rahman Tuhin, a local dish businessman, is seen openly cutting his hair.

After getting the opportunity to defend himself, the accused Arifur Rahman Tuhin expressed his regret for the cutting of the internet cable by his employee Apu and promised to pay attention and cooperate to prevent such situations from happening in the future.

In view of this, the local ISP traders agreed to restart the line. ISPAB Joint Secretary Mohammad A. Qayyum Rashed addressed the meeting.
